Dear Friends,

As you may know, the local court in Istanbul insisted on its first decision on Pınar Selek's aquittal on 9th of February for the third time although the Supreme Court asked for life time sentence. The public prosecutor also demanded again life time sentence for her but the court insisted on the aquittal. I would like to specially thank you for all your valuable support on her case on behalf of the Pınar Selek Support Committee in Turkey. We did feel your solidarity, support and even friendship. It was an honour to meet some of you and we do thank the ones who attended the trial. Your contribution was so valuable and we are very pleased to share our happiness with you.

Unfortunately, since the court insisted on its first decision despite Supreme Court Criminal General Assembly's demands on life time sentence, the case file shall automatically be send to the Supreme Court Criminal General Assembly in a very high percantage. In the case, legally a very rare process occured and there is still legal discussion and questions remain about the future procedure. Even if the case file will not automatically be send to the Supreme Court Criminal General Assembly, the public prosecutor still has the right to appeal against the aquittal. I would like to give you this short information. So we will continue to follow the next steps and will inform you about the future proceedings. We would like to also express that the aquittal is still so valuable for justice.

There is no word to express our feelings for your incredible support. It was a success of all of us and you are all hope for justice.

Warmest wishes,

Yasemin Öz
